The Grateful Parrot

This project is dedicated to crafting picture books inspired by Africa's rich oral traditions, aiming to address the notable absence of representation in South African literary history. The objective is to create these books within a 12-hour timeframe, ensuring they are easily accessible for printing and distribution, particularly in African languages, and reaching children in marginalized communities. Drawing from childhood proverbs, these stories will impart cultural wisdom and essential life lessons through captivating storytelling. The target audience for these books is children aged 3-6 years. Additionally, the stories will be translated from English to IsiZulu.

In 'Don't Bite the Hand That Feeds You,' Molly and Rio share a special friendship. When Rio accidentally bites Molly, they both feel sad. Rio learns the importance of kindness and apologizes, and they mend their friendship.

Expressing gratitude to Uyanda Shozi for his invaluable assistance in translating the story into IsiZulu.
